Christian Drouin VSOP Calvados
This Calvados is crafted by blending spirits of different ages, resulting in a harmonious combination of fruit, flower, and spice aromas without any overpowering notes. It offers a long-lasting taste on the palate while maintaining a lightness. In 1960, Christian Drouin, pre, started distilling Calvados after acquiring a farmhouse and orchards, which initially had little demand for its apples. Fortunately, a family friend with a portable still came to the rescue. These mobile stills, built in 1947, are still being used at the Drouin estate, where they have found their permanent home. The VSOP bottling combines eaux-de-vie that have been aged between five and twelve years. It showcases warm spice, lightly caramelized sugar, and fresh apple peel flavors, capturing all the traditional characteristics of cider brandy and more. The middle notes exhibit sweet baked pear, cardamom, and butter, while subtle hints of licorice and clove on the finish perfectly balance out its indulgent flavor profile.
