Fassbind Les Trouvailles Wildkirsch
The earliest ancestors of the Fassbind family started breeding cherry trees and making cherry brandy in Holland as early as 1395 before moving to Switzerland. However, the official Fassbind distillery in Urschwyzer was established in 1846. Just ten years later, the distillery received a gold medal from Napolon III at the World Exhibition in Paris, which was a highly esteemed recognition for European distilleries at the time. All Fassbind brandies are crafted using local fruits, selected herbs, and berries. These ingredients are either macerated or distilled individually in Marienbad. The Fassbind Les Trouvailles Wildkirsch, which was acknowledged as the best fruit brandy at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London, is made by distilling black and red wild cherries. These cherries are aged for 24 months in stainless steel tanks. When tasting, the brandy first presents subtle hints of almond and marzipan before a prominent cherry aroma takes over. On the palate, these flavors persist and mingle with notes of pepper and other spices. The finish is long and characterized by fruity and peppery sensations.
