Geiger Goldparmne im Bourbon Fass
The Gold Pippin apple variety was once common but is now rare and of lower quality due to pest infestations. However, the Jrg Geiger distillery has expertise in handling old fruit varieties and ensures high quality. The Gold Pippin brandy is distilled and then matured in specially sourced bourbon barrels from the USA. The brandy is described as having medium-sized fruits with a greenish-yellow skin, emitting a strong odor. The flesh is juicy and seasoned. The aging process in the bourbon barrels gives the brandy a deep golden color and flavors of vanilla, toasty character, nutty notes, and smokiness. The scent of the brandy is described as having dominant fruit notes, baked apple, toffee, honey, and woody aromatics. The taste is characterized by a pleasant interplay of wood and fruit, with flavors of banana, apple spice, nougat, and caramel. The Jrg Geiger distillery sourced bourbon whiskey barrels made from American oak that has been air-dried for 18 months and heavily charred before filling them with the brandy.
