Morand Mirabelle Fruchtbrand

Mirabelles, also known as Yellow Plums, are a type of plum that belongs to the plum species family. These small, waxy yellow fruits are about 2cm in size and have a very sweet taste. Native to Central and Southern Europe, mirabelle trees produce these spherical stone fruits. The most popular use for mirabelles is in the production of Mirabelle brandy, which has a long history of being made at home and is well-known in rural areas with an abundance of fruit trees and small farms. Morand, a family business established in Valais in 1889, offers a range of products including syrups, fine fruit brandies, and fruit liqueurs. The mirabelle fruits, which flourish amidst towering mountain peaks, are transformed into high-proof eaux-de-vie using Holstein copper stills with a three-stage rectification column. Mirabelle brandy is often enjoyed as a digestif and can be served at room temperature or chilled. Additionally, some people use this fruit brandy to enhance desserts, fruit salads, or cocktails, according to personal preference.
