Roner Williams Birnenbrand
The distillation process began at Roner in 1946. After experimenting with Grappa initially, Gottfried Roner decided to use roots and berries from his homeland to create traditional products like gentian, Kranewit, and blueberry liqueur. These flavors are still popular today. Fruit distillation, particularly with apples and pears, was later introduced. The operations were then taken over by the sons who successfully expanded the business. Now, the third generation continues to expand due to high demand, maintaining tradition while also introducing innovative products. In 2010, Roner was awarded "Distiller of the Year" in an international spirits competition. A specialty of the distillery is the Williams with pear, a distillate made from South Tyrolean Williams Christ pears that contain an actual pear inside the bottle. The unique feature of the pear growing inside the bottle sparks curiosity among many, and the simple and unusual answer is that the pear is grown inside the bottle and only harvested when ripe.
