Scheibel Alte Zeit Zibrtle Brand

Scheibel's Alte Zeit Zibrtle fruit brandy is an exceptional specialty that pairs perfectly with a good cigar. Its unique appeal lies in the subtle aromas it possesses. The flavor of this Zibrtle fruit brandy has a long-lasting plum undertone with a hint of anise that impressively emerges on the palate. Harvesting the Zibrtle fruit for this brandy is a laborious process due to thorns and low fruit yield, making it a rare find. However, it serves as an excellent base for distilling high-quality fruit brandy like Scheibel Zibrtle. The distillery uses wild-growing Zibrtle fruits found in the Ortenau orchards for this brandy. As expected, the small size of the fruits and the need for manual harvesting contribute to the reasonable price of this fine fruit brandy. The master distiller of Scheibel Distillery has successfully achieved an extraordinary level of quality with this Alte Zeit Zibrtle, justifying its price. Bottled at a potent 44% ABV, the brandy's aroma is greatly enhanced. Upon opening, one can immediately perceive its balanced aromatic profile, characterized by hints of plum, anise, and vanilla. This delightful blend intensifies with each sip, leaving a warm feeling on the palate, coated in a light mist of peppermint and peach. The Scheibel Alte Zeit Zibrtle boasts exceptional balance and a pleasingly silky texture. The distillation process, taking place in small copper stills, benefits from a slow method that allows the Zibrtle's aromas to fully unfold. The Scheibel Distillery, founded in 1921 in Kappelrodeck, is surrounded by picturesque vineyards and well-maintained orchards, some of which provide fruits for their brandies. Initially operating as a mill, the Scheibel family later transformed their agricultural business into a distillery, continuing the production in the same site. The distillery's commitment to innovation is evident in their wide range of fruit brandies and spirits. Notable offerings include their award-winning fruit brandies, barrel-aged Woodka, and recently released gin called OriGINal, known for its wonderful color and intense taste.
