Studer Vieille Poire Williams Rserve Baron Louis
Since 1991, the Studer distillery has been making limited quantities of the Vieille Poire Williams Rserve Baron Louis, using the famous Williams pear. The cultivation of this variety dates back to 1770 in England. The defining characteristic of a "Williams" fruit brandy is the presence of a pear inside the bottle. There are two methods to achieve this: either placing the bottle on an immature pear to allow it to further ripen, or cutting off the bottom of the bottle, reattaching it, and concealing the cut with a label. However, the Vieille Poire Williams Rserve Baron Louis does not contain a pear inside the bottle. Instead, this premium liqueur is known for its well-balanced, fruity flavor and meticulous manufacturing process. The highly aromatic part of the fruit liqueur matures for an extended period, ensuring optimal ripeness. After undergoing slight bonification, the liqueur was recognized as one of the top Swiss distillates in 2011. The exact ingredients used for bonification by the Studer family, as well as the original recipes passed down from their adventurous ancestors in the 19th century, remain a secret. A tasting note describes the liqueur as having an intensely fruity aroma with a touch of sweetness.
