Williamson Studer Williams Barrique 2008
The carafe of Studer Williams Barrique resembles an old-fashioned perfume container and holds a golden-yellow to amber brandy made from Swiss pears that have ripened in the sun. The bottle neck is marked with the traditional seal of the Struder distillery, which has been producing fruit brandies, liqueurs, and other spirits since 1883. Under the leadership of Kthi and Ivano Friedli-Studer, the family-owned company has been incredibly successful and has received over 200 gold awards for their products, packaging, and bottle designs. The Williamson - Studer Williams Barrique is a step up from the regular Williams brandy, as it uses a highly aromatic portion for additional refinement. Since 2008, this spirit, which has an alcohol content of 41%, has been aged in an oak barrel known as a barrique. While barrique aging is more commonly seen with wines, and to a lesser extent whisky and beer, the fruity aroma of this fruit brandy has twice won recognition from the International Spirits Competition for its taste. It is typically enjoyed as a digestif.
