Baardseth XO Single Cru Cognac
Description
This cognac is made by distilling wines from a unique area in the Cognac region. The soil in this central location is mainly clay stone, which is ideal for producing wine and cognac. The Petite Champagne distillate has a beautiful minerality, delicate pear and floral aromas, and a fresh, buttery scent. These delicate flavors require more time to mature than other areas, with a minimum aging requirement of 10 years in oak barrels. This Single Cru XO is a blend of cognacs aged between 10 and 20 years, specifically chosen for their elegance and typical characteristics of this region. We age these cognacs in specific French oak casks that are lightly toasted, in humid and stable temperature cellars. The appearance of the cognac is amber and copper with golden highlights. The aroma is powerful and complex, with a balanced combination of minerality, dried fruit, prunes, citrus, tobacco, and cellar notes. On the palate, it starts with a flavorful mix of fruitiness, minerality, and oxidized hints. The finish is soft, smooth, and long-lasting, with notes of cigar box, old cellar, and a touch of spiciness.
