Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real Solera Gran Reserva
Description
The company that owns the parent company of the Cardenal Mendoza brandy, Sánchez Romate, originally produced sherry. They began distilling brandy in 1887 for family and friends, but eventually started selling them due to public demand. This brandy is matured using a solera system involving barrels that previously contained Pedro Ximenez sherry, a sweet and fortified wine. The average age of the solera used for this bottling is 30 years. When you smell the brandy, you will notice the scents of cooked bananas, brown sugar, walnuts, and golden raisins, as well as bright tropical fruits that add to its aroma. The palate has a moderately full taste reminiscent of aged rum, and the finish is dry with a hint of peanut shells. The brandy also carries aromas of old oak, raisins, and plums.
