Château de Briat Hors D'Age Bas Armagnac
Description
The Château de Briat, an old armagnac house built in 1540, has a rich history. It was once owned by King Henri IV and later acquired by Baron Raoul de Pichon-Longueville in 1864. The vineyard and distillery are still owned by the Pichon-Longueville family. This Hors d'Âge armagnac is aged for 12 years in French oak barrels. Unlike most armagnacs, the Château does not refill its barrels, allowing the spirit to mature with air contact. The grapes used are 75% Baco Blanc, 15% Folle Blanche, and 10% Colombard. The 15-year-old Château de Briat Hors d’Age armagnac is full-bodied and has a unique aroma with herbal and mineral notes. The flavor has a hint of sweetness with fig and nut flavors, along with oak and resin qualities that blend well with the fruit. The finish is dry, buttery, and slightly warm.
