Château De Laubade VSOP Bas Armagnac
Description
Armagnac is a region in South West France, located between Bordeaux, Toulouse, and the Pyrénées mountains. It is divided into three sub-areas: Bas Armagnac, Ténareze, and Haut-Armagnac. Bas Armagnac is renowned for its exceptional terroir, producing rich and smooth brandies. Chateau de Laubade, situated in the heart of Bas Armagnac, is the largest vineyard estate in the region, spanning 230 acres. Owned by the Lesgourgues family for three generations, it is a leading producer of high-quality Bas Armagnacs. The distillation process and aging in oak barrels contribute to the warm amber color and complex balance of the spirit. The VSOP Armagnac is a blend of 6-year-old spirits, creating a well-balanced and fruity character with subtle hints of wood. Its medium amber color is complemented by fragrances of vanilla, chocolate, nougat, and violets. The finish is medium-long, bittersweet, and spicy. The vineyards consist of clayish-sandy soil, cultivating grape varieties such as Baco, Colombard, Ugni-Blanc, and Folle Blanche. The grapes are harvested and fermented separately, followed by a meticulously controlled distillation process. The eaux-de-vie are then aged in Gascony oak barrels, allowing each grape variety and vintage to develop its unique characteristics. The resulting Armagnac showcases a nose of ripe fruit, vanilla, and plum, with a sweet and delicate mouthfeel.
