Courvoisier Avant Garde Bourbon Cask Edition Cognac
Description
This expression, produced by the House of Courvoisier, goes beyond the boundaries of our home in Jarnac, France. The Courvoisier Avant-Garde Bourbon Cask Edition is part of a limited edition release and is the first in the Avant-Garde series. The blend was crafted by master blender Patrice Pinet and master distiller Benoît DeSutter. They began by selecting VS cognac and then completed its maturation in previously used Kentucky bourbon barrels. Due to cognac regulations, which only allow the use of wine or fortified wine barrels, this spirit cannot be classified as cognac. It has a simple composition but showcases a balanced combination of the milder cognac notes and the bolder flavors imparted by the bourbon barrel. The aroma consists of cinnamon and toasted nuts, followed by a hint of orange peel. The taste is led by vanilla and cotton candy at the front of the palate, with a finishing touch of more assertive barrel tannins.
