Croizet Black Legend Grande Champagne Premier Cru Cognac
Description
This exceptional Cognac offers a wonderful combination of exotic spices and rich aromas. Made exclusively from grapes grown in Grande Champagne and aged for at least four years, the Croizet Black Legend Cognac is an impressive VSOP expression that will surely please any Cognac enthusiast. The Croizet vineyard is situated in the commune of Triac Lautrait, surrounding a typical Charentaise farm in the heart of the village of Lantin. This area, located on the edge of the Fins Bois AOC terroir, is perfectly positioned on the borders of Grande Champagne. Cognac Croizet was established in 1805 by Léon Croizet, a descendant of generations of winemakers and a former sommelier to Napoleon I. However, it wasn't until the 19th Century that his grandson Benjamin registered the brand and began exporting their products. Benjamin, who was highly educated and a skilled diplomat, introduced Croizet to the world and played a crucial role in the establishment of the 'Cognac Appellation' which came into effect in 1909. He also helped introduce American grape varieties to France after the devastation caused by Phylloxera and advocated for the construction of walls around vineyards to protect the region's regrowth. Benjamin Croizet was eventually honored with the Légion d'Honneur for his contributions to the industry. Today, Croizet Cognac is no longer in the family's possession and is owned by a Russian investor. Under the guidance of Directors Jason Gillott and Alexander Shponko, the brand has expanded and gained recognition in mainland China and Asia. Despite the change in ownership, Croizet remains committed to its international reputation. This cognac is truly one-of-a-kind, offering a captivating complexity with exotic spices and rich aromas. Made exclusively from grapes grown in Grande Champagne, the extended oak aging enhances the explosion of flavors on the palate, delivering notes of candied figs alongside the smoothness of sweet gingerbread, vanilla, and cocoa beans.
