Croizet VSOP Cognac
Description
The House of Croizet has a long and impressive history in Cognac, spanning over 400 years. The Croizet VSOP Chic Cognac, which has won awards, is aged for more than the required four years, resulting in a well-balanced and aromatic blend of caramel, leather, and chocolate flavors. The Croizet vineyard is located in Triac Lautrait, near the village of Lantin. This area is situated on the border of Grande Champagne, which is known as the premier cru of Cognac. Cognac Croizet was founded in 1805 by Léon Croizet, who had previously worked as a sommelier for Napoleon I. It was his grandson Benjamin who registered the brand and began exporting their products in the 19th Century. Benjamin also played a significant role in the creation of the 'Cognac Appellation' and introduced American grape varieties to France after vineyards in Cognac were devastated by Phylloxera. He advocated for the construction of walls around vineyards to protect the region's re-growth. Benjamin Croizet was eventually honored with the Légion d'Honneur for his contributions to the industry. The Croizet VSOP Chic Cognac offers complex aromas of dulce de leche, orange zest, dark chocolate shavings, cedar, and lilac. With its round and crisp medium body, it delivers a warming and intriguing finish of butterscotch, leather, minerals, and chocolate ganache. This cognac is rich, buttery, and boasts a velvety texture with a multitude of nuances.
