Dampfwerk Grape Immature Barreled Brandy
Description
Meet Ivey. They are an immature and lively muse who is depicted on the front label. Ivey represents The Dampfwerk Distillery's combination of European tradition with an unexpected American touch. This Grape Brandy is made by hand from the Frontenac Gris grape, which is known for its ability to withstand cold weather. The grapes are fermented with selected cider yeasts and then distilled using a classical Black-forest potstill, which captures the unique grape aromas. Ralf Loeffeholtz, a native of Muhlorf Germany with 25 years of experience, created this brandy with passion in Minnesota. The brandy is only aged for six months in French oak barrels that previously held Cabernet Sauvignon, allowing the grape aromas to shine through. The nose has a complex yet not overwhelming scent, with enticing aromas of peach and citrus. The palate offers a splendid taste with a warm sensation. It is not overly smoky, but has smooth and prickly white grape acids with a hint of biscuity pie crust flavor, resembling a fresh fruit tart. The finish is surprisingly long and warming.
