The Bas-Armagnac region is known for its excellent vineyards, where Armagnac is produced. The region features a mix of hilly landscapes and dense woods. The climate in this area is mild and humid, and the sunny autumns contribute to the delicate flavors and aromas found in Armagnac de Montal. The grapes used for this Armagnac are Folle Blanche, Ugni-Blanc, Bacco, and Colombard. After the grapes are harvested, they are immediately distilled to preserve the maximum amount of aroma. Armagnac de Montal still uses a copper still, often referred to as a "large organ," which allows the vapors to rise. The aging process for this Armagnac takes place in white oak barrels and is unusually long, resulting in its golden color. The end result is a smooth brandy with prominent notes of vanilla, as well as hints of clove, cocoa, espresso, and cigar tobacco in its powerful finish.
