Domaine D'Esperance Armagnac XO
Description
Domaine D'Esperance, managed by the renowned de Montesquiou family with a lineage dating back 900 years, has not only captivated people through their feats, famously depicted in Alexandre Dumas' book The Three Musketeers, but also by producing beloved wines in the Gascony area for centuries. Now, after a 400-year pause, they have made a remarkable comeback with their extraordinary Armagnacs. This particular XO blend comprises eau de vies that have all been aged for a minimum of 10 years. Initially, they are aged briefly in new oak before being transferred to used barrels for the remainder of the maturation process. As a result, the spirit acquires a rich color with a deep copper hue. The enticing floral scents of jasmine and rose hips seamlessly transition into luscious fruit notes of apples tinged with cinnamon and dense orange blossom honey. On the palate, the mouthfeel highlights the maturity of the XO, with dominant flavors of caramel, vanilla, nutmeg, and other spices. Delicacy and boldness find an exquisite balance in this offering. Absolutely no artificial coloring or flavoring is ever added. These are among the first bottlings by this producer to arrive in the United States, and we are immensely excited to present them to the fortunate few able to acquire them before they are gone.
