Domaine De Charron 1988 Vintage 30 Year Old Armagnac
Description
Armagnac is a prestigious eau-de-vie made from wine, originating from France. It was historically used as medicine and started being aged in oak barrels during the 17th century. The Armagnac region is currently divided into three production areas: Bas-Armagnac, Ténarèze, and Haut-Armagnac. Unlike Cognac, Armagnac has a wide variety of grape types, each contributing different flavors. Bacco grape adds richness and density, requiring long aging for its roundness, smoothness, and length. Folle Blanche grape provides freshness and fruitiness in the early aging process. Ugni Blanc and Colombard grapes are commonly used for distillation. The aroma is characterized by oak, mushrooms, and undergrowth, while the taste is spicy with hints of oak and marmalade. The finish is marked by liquorice aromas.
