Du Peyrat Organic Cognac
Description
Distillerie du Peyrat has been distilling cognacs for many years. They have a long family history in the Charentes region since 1705. The owners, Sonia and Jean-Francois Rault, decided to focus on producing Organic Cognacs after working with larger brands. Their sons Antoine and Guillaume have also joined the company, with Antoine in charge of the distillation process and the business side, and Guillaume taking care of the vines. The distillery is located in a small village near Cognac. They have nine pot stills, all handmade and ranging from 25 to 60 hectoliters in capacity. The resulting eaux de vie have a strong expression of the terroir and they produce around 160,000 bottles per year. The cognacs are a blend of young and lively spirits, fresh and round due to a special distillation process. The aroma is reminiscent of ripe apricots with hints of tropical fruits. The taste is rich, sweet, and focused with flavors of stone fruit, white tea, and fresh flowers. The overall experience is smooth and balanced.
