Ernest & Julio Gallo are the namesakes for the E & J Brandy portfolio. Their initial brandy sold was in 1938, but their VS was introduced in 1975. The VS is the youngest in their brandy portfolio and has been aged for at least 2 years. It is made by bottling and blending a variety of grapes from California. The aroma is filled with fruity scents, although it is not clear whether grapes are the main focus. Pineapple, peaches, and cherries are noticeable. On the palate, it is quite full-bodied and the youthful fruity notes continue to dominate. There is a hint of barrel spice and vanilla, similar to what you would find in a bourbon, but the fruit flavors steal the show.
