The team at Germain-Robin, a craft distillery in Northern California, decided to pay tribute to Millard Fillmore, the 13th president of the United States, with their most recent brandy. They chose Fillmore because, similarly to American brandies, they believe he is not well recognized or valued. Although I am not very familiar with President Fillmore, who was the last president from the Whig Party from 1850 to 1853, I have always admired the Cognac-style brandies produced by the company. This new brandy can be considered as an introductory option, offering a smooth and delicate blend that showcases floral and dried fruit characteristics on the palate. It has a honey color and a subtle vanilla scent. The taste is light, with hints of sweet vanilla and almond that give way to a finish with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg.
