Description

Brandy is a complex and misunderstood category, and big producers are showing optimism for craft brandy. Consolidation has already started to impact the category, with E. & J. Gallo Winery acquiring Germain Robin three years ago. During the transition, a small project led by Kurt Charron of Chareau liqueur was discovered. It involved a small batch of brandy distilled from 100% Pinot Noir grapes harvested at Roederer Estate in Anderson Valley in 2013. The brandy went through natural malolactic fermentation and was double distilled in Germain Robin's alembic pot stills. It was then aged in French Limousin oak for five years. This brandy is unique and represents Germain Robin's distinctive style under Mr. Charron's direction. It may be our best chance to experience Germain Robin Single Varietals. Despite being bottled at a young age, the brandy already exhibits depth and complexity. It is vibrant and captivating, with a soft and round palate filled with stone fruit flavors. It also has a textured and deep character with hints of spice and vanilla on the finish.
