Fassbind Les Fts Uniques Kirsch Umburana Cask
The oldest ancestors of the Fassbind family started cultivating cherry trees and creating cherry brandy in Holland before they moved to Switzerland in 1395. However, it was not until 1846 that the official Fassbind distillery in Urschwyzer was established. Just ten years later, the distillery received a gold medal from Napolon III at the World Exhibition in Paris, which was considered a prestigious accolade for European distilleries at that time. All Fassbind spirits are made using local fruits, as well as carefully selected herbs and berries, which are either macerated or distilled separately in Marienbad. The Fassbind Les Fts Uniques Kirsch Umburana Cask is produced by distilling cherries sourced from the Rigiregion and the Schwarzbubenland. To impart a uniquely aromatic flavor, it is then matured in barrels made from Brazilian wild cherry for a minimum of one year, before being bottled without undergoing cold filtration. Each bottle is individually numbered, ensuring the traceability of the batches. It has a fruity aroma, with hints of pineapple, marzipan, hay, and licorice. On the palate, flavors of caramel, brown sugar, and licorice are prominent, with a very long-lasting finish.
