Humbel Nr. 4 Schattenmorelle Sauerkirsch
The Humbel specialty distillery from Switzerland, now in its third generation, has been producing a variety of fruit spirits and liqueurs. Their main focus is on pure cherry brandies and cherry cuves, which they offer in more than 15 different variations. One of their distinct products, labeled as number 4, is made from Schattenmorellen - a sour cherry variety that has been widely cultivated in France for centuries, known as "Griotte de Nord" there. These dark red to brown fruits are commonly used to make jams, preserves, and the famous Black Forest cherry cake. Due to their large pits, the fruit brandy carries a pronounced stony character. The aroma is primarily characterized by notes of cinnamon and marzipan. Upon tasting, there is a long, well-balanced finish with a subtle mineral aspect and a sweet aftertaste reminiscent of honey.
