Humbel Nr. 9 Roter Williams
For three generations, the Humbel distillery in Switzerland has been producing a variety of fruit spirits and liquors. Their extensive range includes pure pear brandies and pear cuves, with over seven different products available. One notable item in their collection is their fruit brandy labeled as number 9, which is made from red Williams Christ pears. These pears are a mutation of the usual yellow variety. Both types of pear have yellowish-white flesh that is juicy and sweet, but the red variant has a more pronounced muscat-like aroma. The Red Williams pear, a mutation of the yellow Williams pear, has a slightly stronger aroma. The nose of this fruit brandy is complex, with hints of red berries, pear, and ripe fruits. On the palate, it offers warming aromas and a complex structure, reminiscent of paprika and cayenne pepper.
