Laird's Rare Apple 12 Year Brandy
Lairds is an ancient distillery in the United States that has been in operation since 1698. They utilize ripe apples from whole trees and natural yeasts to ferment the apples. The fermented mixture is then distilled in pot stills and aged for 12 years in oak barrels that have been charred. In terms of appearance, the color of the drink is comparable to medium amber-grade maple syrup and slightly more yellow than a cognac of similar age, with a burnished bronze hue. Upon initial observation, the scent is characterized by a combination of peppery mint, dark fruit, and hints of cocoa. There is also a subtle aroma of acetone and esters. The liquid has a rounded, full-bodied texture, surpassing the richness of most cognacs, and imparts a somewhat buttery sensation in the mouth along with a pleasant tingling on the tongue. In terms of taste, one can detect flavors of caramel, baked toffee, apple, vanilla, and nutmeg, as well as lingering hints of tobacco and crystallized ginger. The finish is of medium length.
