Morand Poire Williams Coeur
This high-end variety of Williams-Christ pears originates from the Valais region in Switzerland. The Morand distillery, which has been in operation since 1889, is situated in the picturesque vineyards and fruit orchards on the slopes of the Alps and the Rhone Valley. In the past, the distillery was renowned for its production of absinthe and is currently managed by the Morand family, now in its fourth generation. Their products are now available in over 30 countries worldwide. Thanks to the copious amount of sunshine in Martigny, coupled with the unique soil composition and its close proximity to the Rhone River, this environment is particularly conducive for the growth of exceptionally sweet fruits that are then processed in the distillery's mash and distillation tanks. These tanks boast a capacity of up to six million liters and can store 800,000 liters. The Poire Williams Coeur pear brandy, which contains 41% alcohol, is created using ten kilograms of Williams pears per 50cl. First, the pears are crushed to release their flavors and then distilled in Holstein copper stills equipped with a three-stage rectification column. After maturing for three to six months, the result is a fruity fruit brandy best enjoyed as a digestif. It features a pear aroma and a subtle spiciness, with a long and fruity finish.
