Papidoux XO Calvados
The Calvados Papidoux X.O. is a kind of brandy that originates from the French department of Normandy, known for its abundance of apple orchards. This region is renowned for producing cider, a fermented apple must, as well as calvados, a distilled brandy with an alcohol content ranging between 40% and 45%. The cider undergoes a double-distillation process and is then aged for a minimum of two years in oak barrels. According to regulations, an X.O. (Extra Old) calvados must be aged for at least six years. However, the Calvados Papidoux X.O., which is available in a 0.7-liter bottle with an alcohol content of 40% Vol Alc., is aged for much longer than the required six years, allowing it to mature for up to 15 years. Once fully aged, the Calvados Papidoux X.O. is bottled in elegant black glass bottles with long necks and is made available for purchase. As a result of this extensive aging process, the Calvados Papidoux X.O. possesses a rich, deep amber color and a subtly fragrant aroma of ripe apples, complemented by a distinctive oak bouquet. When tasted, the dominant flavor is that of apples, enhanced by the influence of the prolonged barrel aging. The finish is notably lengthy, showcasing a combination of spicy and intensely fruity notes. To explore further offerings from Papidoux, please click here.
