Adnams The Spirit of Broadside
Description
Our Head Distiller has transformed Adnams' popular Broadside beer into a flavorful and unique spirit with enticing fruitcake scents and a decadent aftertaste. This special edition commemorates the Battle of Sole Bay, which occurred 340 years ago. Known as an 'eau-de-vie-de-biere', this spirit is distilled from the exceptional Broadside bitter and aged in oak barrels for one year, resulting in a refreshing and pure spirit that captures the essence of Broadside. This rich and intricate amber spirit offers delightful notes of fruit and spice. Although it exhibits whisky aromas and undertones, its distinctiveness lies in the hop flavors derived from the brewing and fermentation process of the beer. The aroma is reminiscent of crisp and fresh beer, accompanied by a subtle spiciness that replaces initial bubble-gum notes. A touch of freshly ground black pepper and ample vanilla further enhance the experience. On the palate, the spirit impresses with a Broadside-like taste, resembling a pint of crisp bitter with a hint of vanilla spice sweetness. Subtle biscuit malt notes contribute to its freshness. The finish mirrors the nose, evoking the sensation of drinking a freshly poured pint from Southwold in spirit form. Overall, this unique and delectable spirit is highly recommended for both beer and whisky enthusiasts.
