Armenia is renowned for its brandy production in Eastern Europe. Arax, a 3-year-old Armenian brandy, is a prime example of this. It is made through a double distillation process utilizing Charentais stills, similar to the ones used in Cognac production. The maturation takes place in casks crafted from Caucasian oak, known as Quercus macranthera. This type of oak is known to add flavors such as dried fruit, dried herbs, vanilla, and chocolate notes, all of which are closely associated with the aroma and taste of Armenian brandy.
