Description

During the Gold Rush in California, miners used gold dust as a form of currency. They would offer merchants and barkeeps a pinch of gold dust from their purse as payment. Merchants who were known for taking generous pinches of gold were referred to as having "Fat Thumbs". In creating the Argonaut Fat Thumb blend, the Master Distiller demonstrated his ability to select high-quality spirits, similar to a Fat Thumb merchant. This blend highlights the excellent blending legs from rare sources. Argonaut Fat Thumb Brandy is a combination of 8 different brandies from pot and coffey stills, with ages ranging from 2 to 16 years. It features a variety of grapes, including grenache, French colombard, and muscat, along with other blends. A quarter of the batch consists of a 9-year-old pot still brandy, while the other components make up 4-20% of the blend. Argonauts Fat Thumb Brandy leans towards older and pot still brandies, resulting in a rich mouthfeel and a darker flavor profile. It showcases notes of cherry, baked apple, leather, and brown sugar, leading to a semi-sweet finish.
