Cardenal Mendoza Non Plus Ultra Solera Gran Reserva Aged 50 Years Brandy
Description
Juan Sánchez de la Torre, a successful businessman and philanthropist, arrived in Jerez de la Frontera in the 18th century with the intention of trading in its famous wines. Jerez was already a thriving wine production center at the time. In 1887, the Sanchez Romate Hnos. company established its first brandy solera to meet the demand for high-quality brandy from the Sanchez Romate family and a select group of friends. The bodegas where Sanchez Romate wines and brandies are aged are located in the historic center of Jerez de la Frontera. The bodegas have high ceilings that maintain a stable temperature throughout the year and provide adequate ventilation. The Cardenal Mendoza Non Plus Ultra brandy was created in 1981 to celebrate the second centenary of Sanchez Romate Hnos. Only a limited quantity of this exclusive brandy is available. It is presented in a handcrafted glass decanter and has a very dark mahogany appearance. The aroma is round, clean, and elegant, with hints of raisins and plums. The taste is perfectly balanced, warm, and smooth, with notes of mahogany and a long aftertaste. The Sanchez Romate winery, established in 1781 by Juan Sanchez de la Torre, is one of the oldest wineries in Jerez de la Frontera. In 1887, the first bottles of Cardenal Mendoza brandy were released, which helped establish the winery's reputation. The Non Plus Ultra brandy was created in 1970 from the 40 best barrels of the winery, and in 1981 it was introduced to a select group of customers. Since then, small quantities of this rare specialty have been bottled in elegant glass carafes and sold. Cardenal Mendoza Non Plus Ultra Brandy is a dark mahogany color and offers delightful aromas of dried fruit, vanilla, plums, orange, raisins, sherry, and nutmeg on the palate. It is a visually and tastefully exceptional experience.
