The history of one of Spain's largest brandy companies dates back to 1730 when Patrick Murphy, an Irish immigrant, started wine production in southern Spain with Juan Haurie, a Spaniard. The business changed ownership several times until 1813 when Don Pedro Domecq Lebaye, a Frenchman, took over. The company operated under his name until recently, when parts of Allied Domecq, including Carlos III brandy, were acquired by Pernod Ricard and later sold to Osborne. Carlos III Reserva is a light-bodied brandy with a copper-gold color. Its aroma features roasted nuts, oak, caramel, and citrus fruit. The taste is characterized by fruit flavors and a slight acidity in a smooth composition. This Reserva Brandy has a natural sweetness and hints of maturation in Oloroso barrels. It is available in a 1-liter bottle with an alcohol content of 36%.
