Château Arton Fine Blanche Haut Armagnac
Description
The original Blanche Armagnac was created by Patrick de Montal in 1982. He decided to bottle the freshly distilled wine before it could officially be called Armagnac and named it "Fine Blanche." Patrick worked with the French government to expand the AOC, and in 2005, Blanche Armagnac was allowed on the label. This unaged spirit has gained popularity among craft cocktail bartenders as a unique alternative to Vodka, Gin, Rum, and other white spirits. It retains the distinctive character of the fresh wine. It is distilled from their own vines in the rare and small sub-region of Haut Armagnac. Chateau Arton offers a range of Armagnacs made entirely from grapes grown on their estate in the Haut Appellation. The Armagnacs are "grown, not produced" by Patrick de Montal and his wife Victoire de Montesquiou, who fulfilled their lifelong dream of owning their own vineyards. The first white brandy ever produced in Armagnac is said to date back to 1985. This brandy has a surprisingly clean taste with prominent floral notes of lavender and orange blossoms, as well as hints of jasmine. The palate is filled with the iconic young brandy linen character, leading to a gently sweet and floral finish that can be likened to golden syrup in a field of wildflowers.
