The 40 Year Old Bas Armagnac from Darroze, part of their Grands Assemblages range, is a magnificent spirit. This Armagnac is crafted from a blend of Colombard, Folle Blanche, and Ugni Blanc wines. After four decades of aging in oak barrels, the eaux-de-vie has developed rich, woody flavors and a distinct rancio character. It would make a perfect gift for anyone who loves brandy and is celebrating a milestone birthday in their forties. On the nose, there is a complex mix of grape, almond, raisin, eucalyptus, and hints of rancio. The palate is soft, well-balanced, and bursting with flavor, featuring lemon, raisin, Christmas cake, fudge, nutmeg, and cinnamon. The exceptionally long finish is surprisingly elegant given its age.
