This 20 Year Old blended Bas Armagnac from Darroze is part of their Grands Assemblages range. It has matured and developed complexity over two decades of aging, while still maintaining its freshness and bite. The nose is elegant, with hints of dried papaya sweetness, fruity toffee, wax polish, freshly cut leather, marzipan, and blanched almonds. The palate starts off big and fruity, with sweet apples, sultanas, and raisins. There is a gentle spice in the background, along with floral hints, wax polish, and dark chocolate. The finish is characterized by dry spices like ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and mace, similar to garam masala. The fruitiness also appears and lingers.
