Dartigalongue 1996 Armagnac
Description
It was in 1838 when Pascal Dartigalongue established his Armagnac distillery in Nogaro, Gers, during Louis Phillipe's reign. Despite various challenges, he successfully exported casks of Armagnac to Bayonne for shipment to Holland and England. In 1870, he purchased the "lacroutz" vineyard in Salles d'Armagnac, which became the inspiration for their brand name "Croix de Salles." Armagnac gained official recognition as Eau de vie and received the appellation 'Jaune d'Or' during Henri's tenure in the early 1900s. The expansion of railways further propelled the Armagnac trade. Pierre, Henri's son, significantly boosted sales by visiting clients in France and later abroad. He capitalized on opportunities in the United States after the end of prohibition in 1936. After World War II, he expanded the sale of Armagnac across Europe. Today, Jean-Pierre and Françoise, Pierre's children, continue to uphold the family's century and a half-old traditions of quality and service, guided by their motto "My Armagnac, my strength." The Armagnac from their distillery exhibits a topaz color with green reflections, remarkable clarity, a highly floral taste infused with cooked pear and spices, and exceptional balance.
