Prosper Delord, a travelling distiller, fell in love with Armagnac and established Maison Delord in 1893. Today, his great grandchildren, Jerome and Sylvain Delord, maintain the family tradition with the same passion and knowledge. The VSOP Armagnac from Delord is a relatively young expression, aged for at least 5 years. The distillery is located in Lannepax, where Delord vineyards cultivate colombard, ugni blanc, and folle blanche grapes. Distillation takes place from November to the end of December using alembic stills. The vintage of an Armagnac is determined by the year of grape harvest, even if distillation spills over into the following year by a day or so. The aroma of this Armagnac showcases prunes, vanilla, and fresh grapes, while on the palate it starts off rough and gradually reveals quince, prune, and tannin flavors. The finish is round, soft, and exhibits a subtle hint of vanilla.
