Domaine D'Esperance 5 Year Armagnac
Description
Domaine D'Esperance, an abandoned estate in Gascony, was bought and renovated by Jean-Louis and Claire de Montesquiou in 1990. The estate produces fruit-forward armagnac using Baco 22A and Folle Blanche grapes grown in clay soil in Mauvezin d'Armagnac. The wine undergoes natural fermentation, is distilled in a traditional Armagnac still, and aged in gascon oak barrels. Domaine D'Esperance 5 Year Old Bas Armagnac is a blend of three vintages aged in gascon oak casks for at least five years. It has a captivating aroma of dried fruit, caramel, vanilla, and black peppercorn. The medium-bodied palate offers flavors of toffee, espresso, almond, tobacco leaf, and pine. The finish is clean, assertive, with lingering notes of raisin and spicy oak.
