Frapin Cuvee 1888 Premier Grand Cru France Cognac
Description
Presented in a stunning crystal decanter, this Cuvée by Pierre Frapin is a limited edition and a symbol of their success. The cognac inside is sourced from the rarest stocks of the Frapin house, some of which were distilled before 1888. The eau-de-vie is primarily made from Folle Blanche grapes, a now rare variety that was once the standard before the phylloxera epidemic. The Frapin family has a rich history in the cognac industry, dating back to 1270. They now own 240 hectares of vineyards in Grande Champagne, where they grow Ugni Blanc grapes. The distillation process takes place in six Charentais stills and the cognac is then aged in Limousin oak barrels. The cognacs have won numerous awards and are highly regarded. The color of this particular cognac is dark amber with hints of orange. The aroma is complex, with notes of dried fruit, nuts, raisins, and orange. There are also hints of cocoa, tonka beans, and coffee. The heart of the aroma is a harmonious blend of vine and everlasting flowers, mixed with the sweetness of linden. There are also notes of pepper, sweet spices, honey, vanilla, leather, and precious woods. The finish is intense, with notes of summer flowers, honey, vanilla, leather, and wood.
