Germain-Robin Apple Brandy
Description
This apple brandy is created using heirloom apples sourced from the Anderson Valley in Mendocino County, California. The specific types of apples used in the production are Black Twig, Ribston Pippin, and Wickson. The brandy is distilled in a vintage copper pot still and then aged in Limousin oak barrels that have naturally dried with air. Contrary to traditional applejack, Germain-Robin's apple brandy is not overly sweet, but instead offers a pleasant fruity flavor that is characteristic of high-quality fruit brandies. The aroma is dry and smooth, displaying hints of vanilla, light chocolate, and just a subtle trace of apple. The focus of the drink is primarily on the rich and traditional brandy notes, which are complemented by a slight raisin-like taste and a touch of orange in the finish. It is lively, easy to enjoy, and nearly delicious – apple brandies of this caliber are rarely encountered. The scent is reminiscent of freshly cut apples combined with delicate cider spices, along with a subtle presence of anise, clove, and a note reminiscent of wine. On the palate, it delivers a sweet apple cider taste that is accentuated by a nutty and slightly peppery sensation towards the end, albeit being slightly thin in consistency. The finish is moderately long, with a drying effect and a slightly tangy essence of apples.
