Jean Cavé Trois Étoiles Fine Armagnac
Description
Jean Cavé Armagnacs are produced in Lannepax, Gers. The history of Jean Cavé dates back to 1883 when Mr. Jean Cavé, a winegrower in Lannepax, established himself as a distiller with his wife and two sons. Located in the heart of the Armagnac region, this distillery has seen four generations of expertise in the distillation, maturation, and aging of Armagnac brandies. With over 130 years of tradition, Jean Cavé offers a range of unique products thanks to its stock of old Armagnacs. The Vintages are made from a single year's harvest and have not been blended with different vintages. This preserves the distinct characteristics and reflections of the specific year's climatic conditions.
One of their notable products is the Cask Strength Armagnac Jean Cavé 1971, which has been aged in "Gros grain" oak barrels of medium toast. This old family distillery, spanning four generations, still uses the term "Trois Etoiles" (three stars) to represent their VS (Very Special) Armagnac. This particular Armagnac has been aged for 18 months and presents a funky, fruity aroma reminiscent of dried apricot and quince paste. The palate is intriguing and complex, with a relatively dry taste that brings to mind honey without the sweetness, along with hints of chamomile tea, cigar wrapper, and fruit leather. The finish is characterized by notes of ginger and white pepper. This Armagnac has been aged for a minimum of two years, equivalent to a VS.
